Tremont Flats
Welcome to Tremont Flats where the story begins with music. In the late 1800s, this building was home to The Aeolian Company, a world leader in making automated pianos and organs. For decades, Meriden’s North End echoed with the sound of craftsmanship and creativity — instruments built here would eventually bring music to living rooms and concert halls around the world. Now, that same spirit of creativity is coming back to life as Tremont Flats — a thoughtfully restored, mixed-income community that honors the past while opening its doors to new beginnings. Trinity’s vision for Tremont Flats is simple: breathe life back into a historic space, create homes that feel welcoming and attainable, and build a place where residents can truly belong.
Rooted in heritage, refreshed with purpose
The transformation of Tremont
Flats celebrates the best of both worlds — historic charm and modern comfort.
Original brick walls, timber beams, and tall factory-style windows frame
bright, open layouts that feel both timeless and new. This adaptive reuse
project falls under Meriden’s Adaptive Reuse Overlay District, designed to
bring historic and underutilized spaces back to life. Every detail at Tremont
Flats reflects that spirit — from the preserved masonry to the energy-efficient
upgrades that make each home sustainable and comfortable for years to come.
Inside, residents will enjoy hardwood floors, stone countertops, and stainless
steel appliances, along with individually controlled heating and cooling,
plenty of natural light, and the authentic character that only a true historic
building can offer. The former boiler room has been completely reimagined as a
lively community hub — featuring a resident lounge, fitness center, kids’ play
area, indoor bike storage, and more. Every space is designed to feel connected,
social, and distinctly Tremont
Tremont Flats is part of a larger story unfolding in
Meriden’s North End — a neighborhood that’s growing, investing, and
rediscovering its sense of community. Right next door, the North End Field park
is undergoing a major upgrade, including new turf, a modernized Little League
complex, added parking, and new recreation spaces like a playscape and
half-court basketball court. It’s the kind of green space where neighbors
gather, kids play, and summer evenings feel alive again. With local shops,
schools, and everyday conveniences close by, Tremont Flats offers a balance of
quiet residential living and easy access to everything Meriden has to offer.
The project is part of a broader partnership between the city and Trinity —
focused on revitalization, affordable housing, and preserving the history that
gives this area its character.
